Summer Institute for Renaissance Polyphony

Five days on Berkeley’s campus, hosted by Cut Circle and faculty from Berkeley, Princeton, and Stanford.
Colloquially known as Josquamp, the institute focuses on the great composer Josquin des Prez (ca. 1450–1521), whose music can be held alongside the artistic achievements of Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael. Participants encounter some of the most rewarding repertoire in the vocal canon. The 2026 program includes works by Josquin, Johannes Okeghem, and Loyset Compère.
The program welcomes newcomers to Renaissance polyphony as well as seasoned performers of this music. The application consists of a simple form with space to upload a sample of your singing. Admissions are rolling.
