The Wallonian Renaissance

Le Soir (Belgium) | December 21, 2012

“

It is known that Josquin Desprez was a singer in the Sistine Chapel from 1489 to 1494. It was Sixtus IV who erected it in 1475, a huge Chapel with the presumed dimensions of Solomon’s temple. It was the pope’s chapel. This CD brings the music of Josquin into association with that of his contemporaries: Gaspar Von Weerbeke, but especially Marbianus de Orto (probably named Dujardin). The music is presented with unprecedented mastery by Jesse Rodin’s Cut Circle ensemble.
